Forty days after Jesus rose from the dead in His Resurrection, He ascended into heaven.

Today is the fortieth day of Easter, known as Ascension Thursday.

The Roman Catholic Church has many departments and operates through formal procedures.

The Apostolic Penitentiary is one of the departments of the Roman Curia, the central body responsible for the affairs of the Church.

This tribunal of mercy recently issued a new Plenary Indulgence in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

I wasn’t planning to post today. Those who follow my blog know that I normally post on Thursday.

I planned to be in another country this week attending a special retreat.

I was preparing for the trip for weeks but was forced to cancel last minute because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

This experience and the current global situation prompted me to write this post.

Lent began last week on Ash Wednesday, February 26th.

First, I’ll give information about Lent.

Then, I’ll give suggestions for this important, holy season.

I don’t normally post on Tuesday, but I want to share something important!

In a previous post I wrote about surrender. I also shared the Surrender Novena and invited my readers to join me in prayer.

As we begin a new calendar year, many people make “resolutions” for the year.

When I thought about this, I wondered:

What if we focus on a different type of goal this year?

What if we make a dedicated effort each day to surrender to God?
