Thanks for checking out the first post of my first blog!
Those of you who know me well, or have ever received a note or card from me, probably know that I love to write.
Last month, I prayed a novena (I also love novenas) to St. Francis de Sales since he is the patron saint of Catholic writers. I asked him for guidance on how to write to make a living as well as give glory to God…
The fruit of this prayer was an inspiration to start a blog!
Now, I want to make it clear that I have no expectations for this new endeavor. I see it as a way to combine my two passions: God and writing.
My writing is and will continue to be religious and spiritual in nature. It’s reflective more so than theological because I am no expert in theology.
My only intention, as always, is to grow deeper in my Catholic Faith and closer to God each day.
I’ve had the opportunity to spend the last several years working on my spiritual life and learning many lessons along the way.
It was only about four years ago that I actually began to grow significantly closer to the Church and develop a real, intimate relationship with Jesus — but more on that later.
When I first felt the inspiration to start this blog, I heard a voice that was loud. For a short time, it almost sounded louder that the inspiration itself!
“Why would you start a blog?” It said. “Who would want to read what you have to say?”
While I know for sure this is not what God’s voice sounds like, I still needed a reminder recently.
Maybe no one will want to read my thoughts, my reflections or my story. Maybe the only people who will read this will be my parents.
It doesn’t matter.
My prayer is to always know and do God’s will, even if I have no idea what the step will lead to or what the purpose is. I feel this is His will now, so I’m going with it and trusting Him…
My dad sends me links to many articles, videos etc., and to be honest, I don’t always view them. (Sorry Dad!)
Thankfully, I did view this short video of Tim Tebow. After viewing it, I felt both moved and encouraged.
I think it was the last “push” I needed to make the inspiration a reality and at least try to write in this way.
You may already know his story, but its definitely worth it to watch the video.
P.S. I’ll explain the meaning of One Small Rose in a future post. Stay tuned…
