The Four Last Things Part VII: Judgment Continued

This summer, I published a series on the Four Last Things: Death, Judgment, Hell, and Heaven.

I feel called to revisit this series for the season of Advent, which began on Sunday, November 28th.

Traditionally, the sermons preached on the four Sundays of Advent were on the Four Last Things.

Each week I’ll present a short post on one of the Four Last Things.

In each post I’ll share a:

  • passage from Scripture
  • quote from Venerable Fulton Sheen
  • short prayer
  • link to my previous post on the same topic

May this Advent be a season of spiritual preparation in which the Holy Ghost fills our souls and helps us to contemplate the Four Last Things.

Scripture

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive good or evil, according to what he has done in the body (2 Corinthians 5:10).

Venerable Fulton Sheen

“Three possible destinies await you at death and judgment: hell, which is pain without love; purgatory, pain with love; and heaven, love without pain.”

Prayer

Prayer of Venerable Consolata Betrone:

Jesus, Mary, I love You! Save souls!
