Last Sunday, the Church celebrated Pentecost which ends the Easter season.
We’re now in the season of Ordinary Time which focuses on the life of Christ.

Throughout the centuries, the testimony of many Christians, including a number of saints, confirms that objects blessed by a priest, through the power of the Church’s intercession, can repel demonic powers. Again and again, evil spirits have recoiled in dread, not just from the Sign of the Cross, but also from holy water and blessed oil, crosses, crucifixes, medals, candles, or salt (Manual for Spiritual Warfare, 55).
In a previous post, Spiritual Warfare, I mentioned that sacramentals provide protection from the devil.
Someone close to me suggested that I write a post on these valuable weapons.
In honor of Saint Benedict of Nursia, a champion in spiritual warfare whose feast we celebrate today, here’s a post dedicated to sacramentals.

Like it or not, you are at war.

It’s a spiritual war with crucial consequences in your everyday life. And the outcome of that war will determine your eternal destiny (Manual for Spiritual Warfare).
For those who think this sounds dramatic or extreme, know these words are true.
They’re supported by Sacred Scripture, the teachings of the Church, writings of the saints, legitimate prophecies, and history itself.
Just look around. We see violence, corruption, crime, impurity, vice, and division at almost every turn.
Why do they exist in the world? Because of the presence of evil.
Some may be surprised to hear this truth. Others are already aware and consciously fighting the spiritual battle.
For those who are learning this for the first time, I pray you take the message to heart. Whether you believe it or not, it’s the truth; and there’s a reason you’re reading this post today.
