The month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

In a previous post I quoted Fr. Michel Rodrigue:

“Your first refuge is also the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary…”

After reading the quote, I began contemplating its meaning.

In a previous post I presented the Sacred Heart devotion and included a link to the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

A reader contacted me about the litany, so I decided to share it for June.

The month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Of all Catholic devotions, this one continues to be the most popular and widespread.

In this post I’ll give a brief history and explanation of the devotion.

On June 16, 1675 Jesus appeared to Sister Margaret Mary Alacoque (now a saint) and asked for the creation of a new feast.

He requested for the Feast of the Sacred Heart to be celebrated on the Friday after the Feast of Corpus Christi, nineteen days after Pentecost.
