The Sacrament of Confession: Part I

In my mid-twenties I began to practice my Catholic Faith more seriously and attend Mass regularly. During that time, I kept hearing a priest talk about confession during his homilies.

Even though I wanted to go to confession, I didn’t know much about it because I wasn’t taught to go regularly.

I desired to understand why I need to receive the sacrament, what it is and the effects.

Names

Today, September 12th is the Memorial of the Most Holy Name of Mary.

I’m taking a break from the Lourdes Series to write about something connected to this day: names.

I’ve recently become interested in this topic. (So much so that I keep an ongoing list of names that I like, and there are enough on the list for a small army!)

I enjoy learning the meaning of names. I also enjoy hearing about how they are chosen.

First, I’ll briefly explain the feast.

The Little Flower and One Small Rose

I have to tell you, I’m excited about this blog! I’m truly grateful for all of the support and encouragement I’ve received from family and friends. This may not seem like a big deal, but it is to me; so thank you!

Now for the explanation of the name. (I know, I know, you’ve been waiting on the edge of your seat for this.) Once I felt that God was calling me to start a blog, one of my first thoughts was that I needed to choose a name.

I’m a perfectionist, so this sort of task would normally take me a long time to accomplish. I often don’t feel comfortable with a decision or action unless I feel it’s completed “perfectly” (which I know sounds ridiculous because “perfect” does not exist).
