On August 14th, on the Vigil of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Church honors a great saint.

December 29th is the feast day of Saint Thomas Becket — also known as Saint Thomas of Canterbury and Thomas of London.

December 29, 2020 marked the 850th anniversary of this saint’s martyrdom, in which U.S. President Donald Trump issued the Proclamation on 850th Anniversary of the Martyrdom of Saint Thomas Becket.

The name Catherine means “pure.”

I chose it for my Confirmation because it’s a family name (but I chose to spell it differently).

Now I like to associate my Confirmation name with St. Catherine because I’m inspired by her story.

This Saint Spotlight is dedicated to: Catherine of Alexandria.

My friend sent me an incredible true story about a young girl who had a deep devotion to the Eucharist.

Her devotion was so great that she risked her life to pray in the church and receive Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

Today, June 22nd the Catholic Church honors two saints: Thomas More and John Fisher.

These friends lived in England in the late 15th and early 16th century.

One was a well-known layman and politician, the other a well-known priest and bishop.
