I’ve posted about the Divine Mercy Chaplet (aka Chaplet of The Divine Mercy) many times because of its great importance and power.

Several years ago, when I read about the significance and power of the chaplet, I started praying it daily.

In this post, I want to share some of God’s promises attached to the Divine Mercy Chaplet as revealed in the Diary of Saint Faustina Kowalska.

• The quotes are Jesus’ words to St. Faustina
• The number in parentheses refers to the diary entry

Promises Attached to the Divine Mercy Chaplet

• “Whoever will recite it will receive great mercy at the hour of death.” (687)
• “Priests will recommend it to sinners as their last hope of salvation. Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this chaplet only once, he would receive grace from My infinite mercy…I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those souls who trust in My mercy.” (687)
• “The souls that say this chaplet will be embraced by My mercy during their lifetime and especially at the hour of their death.” (754)
• The Lord told me to say this chaplet for nine days before the Feast of Mercy. It is to begin on Good Friday. “By this novena, I will grant every possible grace to souls.” (796)
• “At the hour of their death, I defend as My own glory every soul that will say this chaplet; or when others say it for a dying person, the pardon is the same. When this chaplet is said by the bedside of a dying person, God’s anger is placated, unfathomable mercy envelops the soul, and the very depths of My tender mercy are moved for the sake of the sorrowful Passion of My Son.” (811)

• “Oh, what great graces I will grant to souls who say this chaplet…” (848)
• “…by saying the chaplet you are bringing humankind closer to Me.” (929)
• “Souls who spread the honor of My mercy…at the hour of death I will not be a Judge for them, but the Merciful Savior.” (1075)
• “At three o’clock, implore My mercy, especially for sinners; and, if only for a brief moment, immerse yourself in My Passion, particularly in My abandonment at the moment of agony…I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of Me in virtue of My Passion.” (1320; cf. 1572)
• “The prayer most pleasing to Me is prayer for the conversion for sinners. Know, my daughter, that this prayer is always heard and answered.” (1397)
• “My mercy is greater than your sins and those of the entire world.” (1485)
• “To priests who proclaim and extol My mercy, I will give wondrous power; I will anoint their words and touch the hearts of those to whom they will speak.” (1521)
• “When hardened sinners say it, I will fill their souls with peace, and the hour of their death will be a happy one.” (1541)
• “When they say this chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person, not as a just Judge but as a merciful Savior.” (1541)
• “Pray the chaplet that I have taught to you and the storm will stop.” (1731)
• “Through the chaplet you will obtain everything, if what you ask is compatible with My will.” (1731)

Jesus taught St. Faustina how to pray the chaplet on September 13, 1935 — the eve of the Feast of the Triumph of the Cross.

It’s a simple prayer recited on rosary beads.

It takes only ten minutes or less to recite the full chaplet.

I know some of you already pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet. If you don’t, I strongly urge you to begin today to receive the extraordinary graces for yourself and others!

Even though it might be most effective to pray for someone while they’re still alive, we should (and must) pray for those who have already died.

God is outside of time. He hears every prayer, and uses it for the past, present and/or future.

Therefore, it’s never too late to pray for someone, especially to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for them.

God’s mercy is greater than we can comprehend, and He longs to pour graces upon souls. All we have to do is ask for them.

Note: I felt called to write this post and offer it for someone who was very ill and appeared to be dying. Shortly after starting the draft, and the Divine Mercy Chaplet being prayed at the bedside by a loved one, the person died. I continue to pray that he is at peace and trust his soul to our good and gracious God Who ALWAYS keeps His promises…

And we expect to obtain everything promised us by Jesus in spite of all our wretchedness. For Jesus is our Hope: Through His merciful Heart, as through an open gate, we pass through to heaven. Amen.
